On January 16, 2014 from 6:00-8:00p.m., Sturgeon School Division and Discovery
Education Canada will host an interactive community night showcasing how
educators are using the latest digital media and technologies to enhance classroom
instruction district-wide. The event will take place at Gibbons School at 4908-51
Avenue in Gibbons, Alberta.
During this event, local students, families, educators and administrators will hear
from Discovery Education Canada’s digital content expert Dean Shareski and
participate in an interactive session demonstrating the district’s digital textbook,
Discovery Education Canada Science Techbook™, as well as Discovery Education
Dean Shareski, community manager at Discovery Education Canada, will discuss how
educational technology can engage learners and advance student achievement.
Attendees will then have the opportunity to explore innovative digital resources
available through Discovery Education Science Techbook and Discovery Education
Streaming, with trivia questions along the way. The event will culminate with an
exclusive private screening of Discovery Channel’s natural history series, “North
America.” Together, these activities will provide all participants a unique
opportunity to experience the digital resources that are empowering educators,
inspiring and engaging students and accelerating achievement.
