Health & Wellness

Sturgeon Public Schools has a variety of programs to ensure our schools are safe, caring and fair environments. In this section, you will find information on the various programs available at our schools to promote health and safety. Violence and Threat Risk Assessment - VTRA

Sturgeon Public Schools is committed to providing safe and caring learning environments for all students, staff, school visitors and community members. To this end, we have invested in the professional certification of administrative staff in Level 1 & Level 2 Violence and Threat Risk Assessment training across the Division. VTRA helps schools respond quickly to incidents where students' behaviours pose a potential threat to safety or serious harm.

In the communities we are privileged to serve, we have signed off on formalized community-based VTRA protocols with regional partners such as neighbouring school jurisdictions, the RCMP, Alberta Health Services and other community agencies.

Internet Safety

The Internet has become a daily part of most students’ lives. It’s vital they know how to protect themselves.

At Sturgeon Public Schools, our schools teach digital and online safety in a variety of ways.

Student & Parent Resources

As a student or parent, there are a number of resources to help you as well. We recommend the following resources that teach parents, teens and kids how to use the Internet safely and responsibly:

School Bullying

If you are a student who is being bullied or at risk of hurting yourself or someone else, speak with your parents, principal, school counsellor and/or a teacher immediately. Alternatively, there are many other resources available to you.

Bullying in its many forms reaps havoc and heartbreak. One of our greatest responsibilities is keeping our students safe. We work very hard to create and maintain a safe, caring and respectful school environment.

Our schools offer various programs to teach peer support and safety, both in the real world and in the online digital world. These include:

School Programs

Throughout Sturgeon Public Schools, our schools implement various programs and strategies to keep students safe and encourage active, healthy lifestyles.
