STEAM Games

Since 2017, Sturgeon Public Schools has hosted the STEAM Games. The event is designed to celebrate and challenge students demonstrating interest and skill in STEAM. Competing in teams, students create prototypes, design solutions and test devices for authentic challenges. The STEAM Games encourage students to work collaboratively, think critically and design creatively.

We will be hosting our 5th STEAM Games event at Sturgeon Composite High School on May 23, 2024!

We Are All Makers

What is a Makerspace?

A Makerspace is a dynamic and collaborative environment in our schools where STEAM learning takes place. Students engage in hands-on, creative projects using various materials, tools, and technologies.

Key Components

  • Versatile Materials: Cardboard, robotics kits, 3D printers, and coding tools cater to
    diverse projects and interests.
  • Open-Ended Projects: Students freely choose and pursue projects, promoting ownership and enthusiasm.
  • Cross-Curricular Integration: Makerspaces seamlessly align with various subjects, facilitating
interdisciplinary learning and reinforcing academic concepts.

Positive Impact on Students

  • Enhanced Problem Solving: Students learn to overcome challenges and setbacks,
    developing resilience and perseverance.
  • Increased Engagement: Maker education captivates students' interest, making learning
    an exciting and dynamic experience.
  • Real-World Application: Applying theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world
scenarios helps students see the relevance of their education.
