Overview
Sturgeon Collegiate’s Skilled Trades Pathway offers specialized programming for students interested in welding, automotive service tech, heavy equipment tech, or home construction technologies. Students gain hands-on experience while completing academic requirements for high school graduation — all while building job-ready skills that are directly aligned with Alberta’s workforce needs.
This program is designed to blend academic instruction with practical industry training, preparing students for success in post-secondary programs, certifications, and future employment in the trades.

Dual Credit & NAIT Partnership
Students may have the opportunity to take dual credit courses in partnership with NAIT, allowing them to:
- Begin post-secondary pathways in welding or heavy equipment technology
- Earn credits that count toward both high school and college programs
- Experience real trades instruction from certified post-secondary instructors
NAIT’s partnership ensures a seamless bridge to further training and technical diplomas after graduation.
