Planning for the 2025-2026 School Year
In June, the Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) reported that 94.5% of its members voted in favour of strike action. Since then, mediation has continued between the ATA and the Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association (TEBA).
Update – September 10, 2025
The ATA announced in a press conference that they will commence strike action on October 6, 2025, if a negotiated settlement is not reached by that time.
Please note: this announcement does not constitute official strike notice. Sturgeon Public Schools has not received an official notice from TEBA. Strike action cannot legally proceed without this formal notice.
For now, it is business as usual at all Sturgeon Public Schools. However, we encourage parents/guardians to begin making contingency plans for childcare in the event of a strike.
We will provide updates by email as soon as new information becomes available. Families can also visit this page for the latest information.
